Tuesday NASA is scheduled to attempt the first launch of its new Ares I-X rocket. This is the first time in 34 years a new vehicle has been on the launch pad at NASA. The Ares I-X is line to be the booster for the CEV that will replace the retiring shuttle fleet. The CEV, or Crew Exploration Vehicle, will carry astronauts to orbit, the International Space Station, and beyond. It is scheduled to begin service in 2015. Currently NASA's space plans and budget are under review by the Obama Administration and the fate of manned flight is uncertain.
